Limestone & Sandstone
When fixing limestone and sandstone tiles it is best to use a white adhesive, in case there is any likelihood of the adhesive colouring the finished tile. To find a suitable white tile adhesive for your project use our Tile Adhesive Selector; choosing 'natural stone' as the tile type.
Fix the tiles to a 100% bed of adhesive.
If you wish to enhance or gently deepen the colour of the stone, you can use Lithofin Colour Intensifier. Before you cover the entire floor, it is best to test it out on a small piece of tile to ensure that you like the effect. This step is not necessary but should be completed if you wish to enhance the colour of the tile.
To start sealing the tiles, apply one coat of Lithofin MN Stain-Stop with a sponge roller.
Grout the tiles as normal.
After grouting you should apply a second coat of Lithofin MN Stain-Stop to the tiles and possibly a third coat depending on the porosity of the tile.
If using the stone internally an optional additional layer of sealant such as Lithofin Multi-Seal can be used to achieve a soft sheen effect. Apply approximately 2-4 coats of Lithofin Multi-Seal with a clean sponge until desired level of sheen is achieved.
To look after your tiles, we recommend using Lithofin Easy-Care when cleaning. Lithofin Easy-Care is a cleaning solution that you add to a bucket of water and is specifically designed to clean your floor without stripping away the protective sealants that you have applied.
